About Us
An Educated Community is an Informed Community
Know The Facts! Don’t Lose Your Home!
The “Know the Facts, Don’t Lose Your Home” campaign’s mission is to engage in foreclosure prevention and expose the dangers of predatory lending and foreclosure, with a focus on education, empowerment and the development of the Bedford-Stuyvesant and the Central Brooklyn communities.
With the proper knowledge, tools and resources, predatory lending and foreclosure is preventable!
Seven community organizations have partnered this campaign to educate Bedford-Stuyvesant and Central Brooklyn residents about the dangers of predatory lending and foreclosure.
Our goal is to be a resource to which the community can turn to get the information and facts they need to be better prepared homeowners, as well as avoid becoming victims of predatory lending practices and foreclosure.
The seven community organizations were chosen by New York City Councilman Albert Vann of District 36 who stated, “I am greatly encouraged by the collaboration of our premier community-based organizations. Their collective ability to engage and inform the residents of our community will certainly reduce the number of neighbors who became duped by predatory lenders.”
With foreclosures on the rise in Bedford-Stuyvesant and Central Brooklyn, these seven community organizations have become advocates for distressed homeowners in the community through involvement in the Obama Administration’s Making Home Affordable Program.
